Marion’s Grandview Station
I live in the small town of Marion, North Carolina and I am a native of McDowell County. Throughout the years, I have noticed that Marion has the nasty habit of moving old stores to new shopping centers instead of making way for new stores.
A Wal-Mart Supercenter will anchor the new Grandview shopping center, and old Marion staples such as Shoe Show, US Cellular, McDowell Square’s Nail Shop, No.1 China, and, Cato will take their retail and dining talents to Sugar Hill Road. By doing that, McDowell Square will be a ghost town rifled with for lease signs when Wal Mart moves. Currently, Grandview station’s new stores will be the Dollar Tree and Rue 21.
It isn’t surprising to see McDowell residents shopping in Morganton, Hickory and Asheville. When Morganton’s new shopping center is built, look for residents to frequent that center since it will boast a TJ Maxx, Petsmart, Michaels, and Ross’
